Up-Date is one of our more sensible and very social males. Like his sire Agor he is totally dedicated to his job and amster. Therefor he needs special handling in terms of petting and the privilege of coming in the house to compensate stress (he gets picky eating and drinking otherwise). In Fall 2002, when we we decided to race one more winter in the US, we loaned him to our friend Elke Schiller. She started to field a long distance team. Up-Date liked this way of training and racing and sleeping out at nigth cuddling close to her sleeping bag and bonded with his new boss strongly. That year he helped her to win the 8-dog-class purebred stage race Trans-Thüringia. He also was one of the main leaders, when she placed second with 8 dogs in the Open class at the Polardistans (320 km, purebreds) in Sweden. In 2004, being already 8 years old, he still was an important member of her team, when she finished the Finnmarkslopet-500 as the only purebred team.
